Mac Extra Dimension Skinfinish/Highlighters: Superb and Glorify: Review and Swatches

Ok I know that this post is long over due especially since I've had these for weeks and they are all sold out now. But better late than never right. I picked up two of the three Skinfinishes/Highlighters from the Extra Dimension collection, Superb and Glorify. Initially i just wanted Superb but when I swatched them I was blown away by the formula of these and got Glorify as well. Whisper of Gilt is just as gorgeous but I skipped since i felt that it was similar to Albatross from Nars.

PRICE

I think that this was $23US and I paid $250 TT. In my opinion the price is very steep but you also do get alot of product for your money. They both have 9g of product.

PACKAGING

Mac's Extra Dimension Skinfinishes/highlighters come in MAC's standard black packaging similar to their blushes but larger like their msfs and comes with a clear plastic insert to help protect it. Unlike Mac's regular msf's that are dome shaped, these are flat with an embossed wave design complete with Mac's logo.

PRODUCT

Superb is an amazing Rose gold shade (light peach-gold). I have nothing like this and am really happy i decided to get this. I love wearing this with pink and peachy pink blushes.

Glorify is a beautiful golden bronze. It literally looks as though you melted bronze in a compact. Just gorgeous. This looks amazing as a highlighter, blush or bronzer especially on brown beauties. I love pairing this with Mac's Format blush for that super bronze goddess look.

The texture of these is one that is difficult to describe and has to be felt to really understand it but ill try. Both of these products have a very satiny and silky feel compared to some other skinfinishes from Mac that have a gritty texture. They are dry but not powdery  if that makes sense. What I love about these is that they are all sheen not glitter which help give it the silky consistency.

PERFORMANCE

These skinfinishes/highlighters are amazingly pigmented, smooth and blend like a dream. You really need a light hand with these. I'm till experimenting with the right application method. So far I've stuck with my Real techniques contour brush. I recommend using a stipple brush or fan brush for those who are not fans of a heavy highlight. Because this product is so smooth it doesnt settle into lines or accentuate large pores like some other msf's that Mac has come out with. Mac claims that these last a total of ten hours on the face. I have not tested these for so long but they did last an incredible 8 hours with minimal fading.  They both leave a beautiful sheen on the face that gives the perfect glow.

Overall

I really recommend these even though they are now sold out. They are one of the best products that Mac has come out with in a long time. If you got these you know what I'm talking about.

Mac Impassioned Lipstick Review and Swatches

Funny story about this lipstick. When I went into Mac and was so surprised to see this the recent Mac Fashion Sets collection. In this collection Mac took all the best selling lipsticks from different regions and made matching lipglosses and nail polishes. The first thing I grabbed was the Pink Nouveau lipglass then I saw something neon and pink next to it, I immediately swatched it and fell in love. It turned out to be Impassioned lipstick. My first thought was to get it but then I remembered that its a permanent shade that I could pick up anytime. I went to cash out and one of the mua's asked if I saw Impassioned and he thought that I would love it. So I told him did and I'll get it another time since its perm. He almost screamed at me that its not perm in Trinidad and that I need it. I love that they know me so well! I love this lipstick!

This lipstick comes in the traditional black Mac bullet packaging which I think looks so sleek and modern. Like all Mac lipsticks it also has a yummy vanilla scent which is undetectable when on the lips.

Mac describes this lipstick as an amped up fuchsia. In my opinion this is a neon red-pink shade with some orange/coral thrown into the mix. It literally is like a watermelon pink. When I said earlier I spotted something neon I really meant it. This lipstick is bright!! Perfect for hot weather especially here in the Caribbean where its always hot! This lipstick imo will also look great on a variety of skintones.

It really does look like watermelon right?

Mac's Impassioned lipstick is an Amplified finish. Amplified lipsticks are notorious for long wear, high pigmentation and for being extremely moisturizing. Impassioned does not disappoint. It literally glides onto the lips leaving it feeling incredibly moisturized with a semi-glossy finish. I cannot get over how pigmented this product is. I love how opaque the coverage is. This lipstick also lasts an incredibly long time. I got close to about six hours wear with Impassioned.  It does leave a stain though as most highly pigmented bright lipsticks do.

The red-pink stain left behind

Here are some photos of me wearing this lipstick

Brand: M.A.C
Shade: Impassioned
Color: Watermelon red/pink
Finish: Amplified
Cost: TT$130/ USD 14.50

 Overall

I really recommend going out and getting this one. It is permanent in the US but is unfortunately not here in Trinidad although it is currently here as part of the Fashion Sets collection.

That watermelon photo has me craving. Think I'm going to go out and get me a big ole watermelon! What about you.

Love and watermelon

Mac Reel Sexy Lipstick Swatches

Hey guys I just want to share some quick photo swatches of the lipsticks from the recent Mac Reel Sexy Collection. There were 4 lipsticks total in this collection. They were Reel Sexy (light coral), Watch me simmer (Bright coral), Pink Popcorn (pink-lilac) and Heroine (purple). I feel like Mac has been on point with their new lipsticks these days and this collection really showcased that. Unfortunately I was unable to get 2 of the shades that I wanted Reel Sexy and Watch Me Simmer but I did come home with Heroine. I really recommend checking out these lipsticks if you get a chance. Here are some swatches I took at the store. I hope you enjoy.

Mac Hey Sailor: Feeling Fresh Eyeshadow Review and Swatches

I actually bought a bright colored eyeshadow! Can you believe it? Me, the neutral eye girl! Honestly I could not resist, Feeling Fresh e/s is probably the only one that really interested me from this collection. This green shade just pops among the pretty neutrals from this collection and I had to have it.

I am obsessed with the packaging of this lipstick (yes i always say that about special packaging but it really is amazing) This Summer's big collection, Hey Sailor! is decked out with a nautical theme that could not be cuter. A blue and white nautic stripe pattern surround the traditional eyeshadow pot and with the Mac logo emblazed in an antique gold. The actual product box comes in the same stripe packaging with a red inner lining.

Mac describes this as a bright green and I think that is a really close description. Feeling Fresh is a bright true grass green shade with a frost finish. This color is what I wanted Mac’s Jealousy Wakes e/s (which I do not own) to be...GREEN! I think that this is an amazing and unique color especially from Mac.

This eye-shadow is listed as a frost finish but it doesn't feel like regular frosts. In fact the texture of this eyeshadow feels quite similar to Mac's Veluxe Pearl finishes. The texture of this shadow is drier than the Veluxe Pearl finish only when I got pass the initial layer did I really encounter this dryness. This is an amazing shadow to work with. It swatched amazingly smooth and pigmented with only a little product required. I love the pigmentation of this eyeshadow, what you see is what you get with this one. I was very impressed by the color payoff without a primer. I can only anticipate how gorgeous the color payoff will be with a primer, since I haven't worn this on the eyes yet. I will also have to get back to you on performance since I have not found the time to test this yet. But Mac shadows in my opinion tend to wear very good with little to no fade and creasing.

Update

Though this shadow feels very dry to the touch. It did apply well to the lids. I used Mac's Painterly paintpot and the color payoff was superb when I applied to the lid using the Mac 239. Blending took a little more effort but I was able to blend well.

Swatches on Dark Skin (Nc45)
These swatches don't do justice to this shadow.

What do you think about this shadow? Are you feeling
 "Feeling Fresh"?
